Lecture No. 5: A Lecture by Annie M. Knott, C.S.D.

Studio-recorded. 46 minutes.

Orignally delivered April 12, 1899.

Annie M. Knott, C.S.D., turned to Christian Science after her son was healed of the effects of a serious poisoning incident. His healing prompted her immediate study of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She twice had class instruction with Mrs. Eddy (in 1887 and 1889), became a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, and helped to establish Christian Science first in Chicago, Illinois and then in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Knott was one of the first two women appointed to the Christian Science Board of Lectureship by Mrs. Eddy. In 1903 she became Associate Editor of the periodicals, became the first woman to be appointed to the Christian Science Board of Directors in 1919, and served as a Trustee Under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy and on the Bible Lesson Committee.
