William R. Rathvon, C.S.B., first discovered Christian Science during a stay in Chicago in the early 1890s and eventually went through class instruction there with Mary W. Adams. He and his wife went into the full time practice of Christian Science in Boulder, Colorado and became lifelong members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boulder. Mr. Rathvon went through Normal class in 1907 and eventually taught his own classes in Boulder, Denver, and Boston. He served as a secretary in Mrs. Eddy’s household at Chestnut Hill for two years, and later served on the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, as Treasurer of The Mother Church, and finally on the Christian Science Board of Directors.
