Special Publications
Daystar regularly produces historical reprints of books, articles, and lectures relating to Christian Science. These are available for purchase in our Online Shop.
Daystar’s latest historical reprint is a beautiful box set featuring Jewel: A Chapter in her Life and Jewel’s Story Book by Clara Louise Burnham. These novels, beloved to Christian Scientists for generations, tell the story of an eight-year-old Christian Scientist named Jewel who goes about meeting life’s challenges with Love.
The first book in the set, Jewel: A Chapter in Her Life tells the story of Jewel Evringham, an eight-year-old Christian Scientist who goes to stay with her grandfather while her parents are away on a business trip. Her grandfather’s home is an unhappy one, but Jewel’s pure and joyful love brings new light to the household, as well as healing in more ways than one.
Jewel’s Story Book, the sequel to Jewel: A Chapter in Her Life, picks up where the first book ends, as Jewel’s parents arrive home from their trip to discover the happy family transformation that Jewel has inspired. In this book, Jewel’s story is intertwined with Christian Science-inspired short stories that Jewel and her family read (and write) together.
Daystar’s other historical reprints include Studies in Character by Carol Norton, Thought Quality in the Voice by Emma Dunn, frameable quotes by Mary Baker Eddy, and a variety of articles and lectures reprinted in pamphlet form.
In addition to reprints in book and pamphlet form, Daystar also produces audio recordings of a selection of these historical texts. Members can access these audio recordings for free when logged in to our website, and CDs may also be purchased in the online shop.
